Assistant Housekeeper
Duties:
Conservation and maintenance of a Historic House and its contents including immediate external areas.
The ability to identify missing or damaged items, disturbances, and problems to be reported to the House Manager.
Laundry - internally and organizing external collections.
Occasional cooking for a family.
Occasional sleeping in duties, including Keyholder and Fire warden to ensure the smooth running of the existing systems.
Assist in the setup and execution of events.
Assist in the supervision of external contractors.
Regularly maintain equipment to prolong lifespan.
Report low levels of consumables.
Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety.
The ability to ensure the smooth running of the House in the House Manager’s absence without the need for handover.
Any other duties.
Essential qualities:
High level of flexibility in working hours, including weekends and bank holidays with notice of either.
Able to work closely in a partnership with the House Manager and the extended small team.
Smart and confident. (Uniform provided for hospitality duties)
A high standard of work and attention to detail.
The ability to identify what needs to be done.
Prioritisation, time management and self-motivation.
Positive and professional attitude.
Discretion and confidentiality.
Hours
Basic 40-hour week, with two full days off in seven, which may not fall on a weekend. Overtime depending on house programme
Weekends and evenings when required and as planned
Salary
£33,000.00 - plus overtime and accommodation.
