The owners of a château near Saint Maixent l’Ecole are looking for a property manager/house manager/estate manager/former chef. Must be bi-lingual speaking French and English and have a happy positive outlook on life. No sad-demure-life is grey-poor me attitude. Must have the right to work in France.

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Carry out all day-to-day tasks, including managing contractors working on the property, providing access for contractors to inspect and give quotes, scheduling annual general maintenance, reporting issues or maintenance items to ownership, calling contractors to obtain quotes, taking pictures of completed maintenance to confirm work done and confirming payment to contractors;

• Monitoring the property, receiving deliveries and materials, security watch;

• ⁠Some landscaping and gardening works

• Feeding dogs and various animals on the property, goats and chickens;

• Managing cleaning staff;

• Receiving rental guests on arrival and fulfilling any concierge requests;

• Checking out rental guests and property inspection to confirm no damage to the furniture and sending photographic report on condition of premises;

• Maybe some occasional grocery shopping and cooking;

• Not required but a bonus if you have any experience with lawn care, garden maintenance, mechanical repairs, general handyman experience;

• Working with the accountant to ensure all paperwork is received correctly;

Terms of employment:

• Permanent contract to start from October 2026, full time 35 hours week;

• Live in accommodation, with comfortable detached house at the front of the estate with living room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, utility room, garage, heat pump heating, air conditioning and fenced home garden;

• Salary commensurate with profile and experience;
