We are seeking an experienced, warm and compassionate live-in Carer, Housekeeper and Companion to support our mother in her own home in a beautiful rural location on the Sussex/Surrey border.

Our mother is recovering remarkably well following a severe stroke. She has regained mobility and can now walk short distances with a stick and assistance. She also has apraxia and aphasia affecting her speech, so the successful candidate must be a patient, calm and confident communicator who is able to build trust and understand her needs.

This is a varied role where personality is as important as experience. We are looking for someone cheerful, emotionally intelligent, proactive and naturally companionable, who will enjoy accompanying our mother to appointments, outings and social activities, while also encouraging engagement in activities at home.

Responsibilities include:

• Mobility support and fall-risk awareness.
• Assistance with personal care relating to mobility.
• Medication prompting and organisation.
• Meal planning and preparation (a good home cook is essential).
• Housekeeping, laundry and ironing.
• Accompanying to appointments and community activities.
• Feeding and helping care for one very friendly dog and a cat.

You will work alongside another live-in carer, sharing cooking and housekeeping responsibilities, as our father also has some medical needs.

This is a live-in position working 4 or 5 weeks on, followed by 4 or 5 weeks off, rotating with the other live-in carer. During each working day, you will have a 3-hour break.

An enhanced DBS check and excellent references are essential.
