We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and trustworthy couple to join our principal household.
The Housekeeping role will be responsible for managing and maintaining the principal household (9 bedrooms), assisting with general housekeeping duties, providing support and occasional babysitting for the children and dog, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
The second position is a Security role, responsible for security on the wider estate as well as maintaining the principal residence and gardens.
The Estate has been in the same family for over 250 years and covers 3,500 acres of Berkshire countryside. Over the years the estate has diversified to become, amongst other things, one of the leading exclusive use venues in the country, delivering weddings, events, retreats and festivals. As well as this we have numerous top-class fishing lakes and our Farm is now organic, a key piece in the development of the estate. We also have numerous commercial and residential properties as well as a beautiful Marina.
For the right couple this is a rewarding and varied job in a beautiful rural location in Berkshire with a friendly and busy family. You must be able to legally work in the UK and have a full clean driving licence. You must be energetic, hardworking, trustworthy, loyal, have high standards, and like children and dogs. Both members of the couple must be willing to be CRB checked. This is a live in position in a beautiful and very spacious one bedroom cottage adjacent to the main house. Please note the role will include on average one weekend of babysitting with the children & dog per month plus occasional weekly overnight babysitting.
Housekeeper Role - Reporting to Principal
Housekeeping Duties;
- Mother's Help (Employer has a 7 year old and 10 year old) experience with children essential
- Occasional child minding, overnight baby-sitting of children of employer
- All aspects of housekeeping including laundry, cleaning, dusting, etc
- Family ironing
- Empty hoover bags regularly
- Collect post from mailbox at gate and distribute
- Put refuse bins out and return
- Feed, clean up after and walk our dog
- Occasional dog sitting while employer is away
- Occasional foreign travel
- Notify any damages, deficits, and disturbances
- Health and safety care within the home
- Diary management for appointments, servicing and deliveries
General
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Required
- A full, clean driving licence is required as driving will be needed.
- The ability to be flexible and to work proactively
- An ability to remain calm under pressure
Security Role – Reporting to Head of Leisure
Security: Responsibility for general security of The Estate to include: -
- Patrolling and securing the areas to the Wedding Venue, the Woodland Venue, the Sauna, Wild Swim and on occasion the wider estate.
- Provide security on wedding days
- Be observant at all times and visible when necessary
- Be a point of contact for overnight fire and intruder alarm and respond immediately to distress calls, alarms and emergencies
- Management of the CCTV cameras for the Estate
- Assist with fire regulations and H & S checks
- Protect the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues and communicate any irregularities to management
- Build a strong relationship with the local traveller community
- Liaise with local police and build a good working relationship with them
- Liaise closely with heads of departments and managers
- Keep records of all incidents and accidents
- Assist with traffic control at Open Days and special events
General:
- To carry out rudimentary maintenance and DIY at the principal household
- To carry out basic gardening at the principal household, (lawn mowing, weeding, path clearing, etc)
- Swimming pool maintenance care
- Occasional driving for principle
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management
Required:
- Clean driving licence holder
- The ability to be flexible and to work proactively
- An ability to remain calm under pressure
Additional:
- Occasionally the Security may be asked to provide support across the wider estate, such as the fishing lakes
