An experienced, professional and competent Groundsman/Ranger is sought for a large Private Estate located in Surrey. The property is undergoing renovations and extensive building work at present: the Groundsman will work with and alongside the Estate Manager in creating and upkeeping the outdoors space as well as collaborating with a team of specialists. The Groundsman/Ranger will maintain and develop the grounds, woodlands, and infrastructure of the estate to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring a safe, secure, and visually appealing environment for the owners.

START DATE: ASAP

ROLE HIGHLIGHTS:

• Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - flexible to work some weekends if required

• Working in collaboration with the Estate Manager

• Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping: Mowing lawns and fields, strimming, brush cutting, edging, weed control, and maintaining flowerbeds, walled garden and formal borders.

• Tree & Woodland Management: Assisting with tree planting, pruning, and clearing fallen trees or debris.

• Infrastructure Upkeep: Maintaining and repairing paths, driveways, fencing, gates, and walls.

• Machinery Operation & Maintenance: Operating and performing daily safety and maintenance checks on machinery such as tractors, ride-on mowers, chainsaws, strimmers and brush cutters.

• Seasonal Tasks: Leaf clearance in autumn and snow/ice management (gritting) in winter.

• Environmental Care: Maintaining lakes and supporting biodiversity initiatives.

• Security & Safety: Reporting safety hazards, ensuring the security of estate buildings, and contributing to the estate’s compliance obligations.

EXPERTISE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Eligible to work in the UK

• Based within commutable distance to Godalming

• Experience: Proven experience in groundskeeping or estate maintenance.

• Licenses: Chainsaw and brush cutting certificate (e.g., NPTC, LANTRA) is highly desirable.

• Skills: Ability to operate and maintain machinery; proficiency in landscaping techniques.

• Attributes: Reliable, discreet, self-motivated, dynamic and capable of working in all weather conditions.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE: £50k gpa + DOE
