Permanent, Full-time
Derbyshire
Based in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, Chatsworth is one of the country’s most famous historic houses and home of the Devonshire family. It is also one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations.
We have a rare opportunity for a Trainee House Steward to join our friendly private household team based primarily at Chatsworth House.
This is a busy private household, doing a great deal of entertaining on both a formal and informal basis and it is in this setting that you will learn the art of providing a first rate steward service; meeting, greeting and caring for a wide range of guests, and providing a ‘home from home’ service at five star standards. You will ensure a seamless and professional service is provided at all times for Lord and Lady Burlington, their family and guests.
This is an extremely varied role and duties will include all aspects of a house steward role as well as other domestic tasks, which will range from supporting the housekeeping team to assisting with minor car/bicycle maintenance and cleaning when required.
You will be provided with in-house training and mentoring by our experienced team, led by the House Manager.
You should have some experience in hospitality, enjoy working within a team, be organised, and have a calm and professional manner. The ability to maintain complete confidentiality, high integrity, attention to details and complete trust is a prerequisite, as is a sense of humour.
This is a full-time, permanent role with a 2-year training period. You will work all year-round over 5-days per week, including split shifts, weekends, bank holidays and evening work. The role will have extremely busy periods when the family are entertaining, followed by quieter periods when the family are away; therefore, workload and working time will vary. There will also be a requirement to work at other locations on the Chatsworth Estate, which will include occasional work at Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire.
Due to the rural location, your own transport is essential.
The salary package is £11.44 per hour (£26,770 per annum).
A DBS check will be required.
Should you be successfully shortlisted for the next stage in the recruitment process, you will receive further details of the role, due to the confidential nature; these cannot be shared prior to this.
Our core values include “Being Inclusive” and we particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates who are currently under-represented. We also welcome applicants from the LGBTQ+ community.
Closing date for applications: Wednesday 31st July 2024
Interviews will be held in Derbyshire on Tuesday 13th August 2024
