A remarkable opportunity to help run a remote and peaceful farm house in South Oxfordshire on a traditional estate as Cook/Housekeeper with a partner who could do some handyperson, basic gardening, driving and odd jobs.
Accommodation is provided in a two-bedroom bungalow at the farm.
The job is for 34 hours per week spread over 5 days - flexibilityis an essential requirement. Most of the time it is just us- a couple in our early seventies -but the house is sometimes busy at weekends, and help with family entertaining - (grandchildren etc.) may be needed from time to time. Common sense and patience are important for this job. It is an informal household.
The role consists of housekeeping to a high standard and a regular schedule, to include cleaning, laundry and linen care - cooking, meal-planning, shopping and food preparation. A love of animals is important and more particularly of dogs. Dog walking and care of our dog while we are away is crucial.
Knowledge and experience of horses would be a bonus but is not essential and the chance of keeping a horse at the farm might be possible.
The handyman element would suit someone with initiative, good maintenance skills, mowing, strimming etc. Security of the house is part of the job.
Driving is essential for both candidates. A car is provided.
IT skills are also important.
The house is part of a larger working estate and organic farm. Flexibilty, discretion, efficiency and attention to detail are key. The present couple are retiring after seven years and will be much missed.
The job would start at the end of October or early November.
Previous similar housekeeping experience for three years or more is a requirement, as are written references and DBS check (plus full driving licence). Salary according to skills and experience. Please send CV with photograph.
There is no need to provide bank account details or payment to any person or organisation when applying for a job.
