Job description

A young family are looking for an experienced, kind, proactive and energetic housekeeper for their weekend house in the Cotswolds. The family, with their children aged 4, 7 and 9 years, (and their new puppy!) use the house at weekends and some school holidays. Accomodation is provided in a beautiful 3 bedroom cottage, with seperate access and private garden. The candidate will need to work at the weekend, with two days off in the week.

The role is for a full time Housekeeper, with potential for a spouse/partner to work as a handyperson/gardener as a full/part-time role, depending on skills.

Job requirements

Housekeeper: Cleaning, changing beds, laundry, unpacking grocery deliveries. Some cooking in advance of the weekend (the mother loves to cook but occasionally appreciates a hand, and for supper to be left for arrival on Friday night.) Babysitting generally 1 night per week. Some help clearing up at dinner parties, and when the family are entertaining at lunch. Assistance planning and managing larger parties throughout the year, and managing servicemen and contractors at the house. Responsible for house security, taking care of the six chickens and occasionally the dog (but he travels with the family the majority of the time.)

They are looking for a kind, cheerful person, who is happy being around children in an informal household, and able to be proactive in a role which requires independence.

Single applicants are welcome but the potential role for the spouse/partner includes:

Gardener: The property has a 6 acre garden, with large borders and plans to reinstall the vegetable garden. There is a requirement for someone with horticultural experience for this part of the role.

Handyperson/houseperson: Occasional collection of guests from local stations. Undertaking and managing property maintenance (including swimming pool, guttering, cleaning paths and ponds, cleaning cars and organising services.) Responsible for security.

The spouse role would be part or full time depending on the level of horticultural experience.

No smokers, with a UK driving licence only please apply. Minimum of 4 years experience in a similar role  in the UK.
