Job description

A village pub in North West Oxfordshire is looking for a Restaurant Manager to manage its busy restaurant that serves excellent English cuisine in a friendly and informal atmosphere.  Our client is looking for someone who can engage customers and instil the highest levels of customer service in their team.  The successful candidate would ideally have a background working in a similar establishment with AA Rosette or other award status.

The pub was taken over by new owners and is currently in their second year of trading as a family run business.  The owners are passionate about serving traditional English cuisine cooked from fresh, local, seasonal ingredients and ensuring the highest levels of customer enjoyment and satisfaction.  They are looking to achieve their first AA Rosette and more this year.

The Restaurant Manager needs to be friendly and welcoming to customers, both the local regulars and those visiting the area, and give individual attention without neglecting other customers.  This is a popular place with locals and runs a number of evening entertainments and food showcase nights throughout the year.

A confident leader, the Restaurant Manager will inspire and train their team while maintaining excellent communication and relationships with the other teams in the kitchen, front of house and with management.

An excellent knowledge of wine and beverages to make suitable suggestions to customers for accompaniments to their meals would be desirable.

Responsibilities include opening and closing tasks and assisting with ordering FOH stock.

The ideal candidate will have a calm manner, be flexible and a passion for superb customer service that goes beyond expectations.

Working straight shifts, approximately 48 hours per week with a salary of £25,000.  Benefits include: 28 days holiday, company pension and meals on duty.  Private accommodation is available to rent less than half a mile from the pub.  To take advantage of the accommodation it would the ideal candidate would be part of a couple, a Chef is also required please see Senior Chef de Partie / Junior Sous Chef, Oxfordshire.

The pub is in a rural location but there is a good bus service to Chipping Norton and Oxford, however owning a car would be beneficial.

The pub is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
