Full time GARDENER / HANDY PERSON plus possible part time DOMESTIC

We will have a vacancy for the above position(s) from the end of July this year.
The vacancy arises due to our current gardener and his wife (who both originally wanted to join us for 12 months but are now in their eighth year) wishing to return to New Zealand for well-earned retirement.
Essentially the job entails looking after the upkeep and basic maintenance of a site of some 4 acres, comprising of a large domestic residence, a rented office block, driveways, a wooded area and a country garden with fishpond, tennis court and swimming pool.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to take over a site which is currently in excellent condition.
We are not expecting anyone to have the abilities of a professional plumber, electrician, roofer, decorator, joiner, forester etc., but to have the ability to recognise when such things may need attention.
Occasional other duties to include chauffeuring, dog walking/sitting – clean driving licence required.
Health and Safety for everyone on the site is of paramount importance. There is a comprehensive range of machinery and equipment held and the ability to use and respect such is essential. Training can be given for unfamiliar items.
The job is a highly responsible one but not a stressful one!
A good salary is available by negotiation, depending upon experience and services offered. Hours are 35 per week mainly Monday to Friday – paid holidays are of a cumulative 2 days per month + bank holiday(s).
It is a requirement, for security purposes, to ‘live in’.
Separate, well equipped and comfortable, 2 bedroomed accommodation is provided, with all services free including wifi. It is not suitable for smokers, pets or dependants.
The position would probably ideally suit a stable, mature couple, maybe whose children have ‘flown the nest’ and are able to rent their existing property. Although others, who do not completely meet this specification are also welcomed to apply.!
There will be the opportunity for applicants shortlisted to meet our present gardener and a handover period will be available to the successful applicant (both subject to existing C-19 conditions).
