We need a carer for our 83-year-old Mum who suffers from vascular dementia, COPD and reduced mobility after a recent fall. She lives in her own home in Colchester with her son who, after four years of looking after her alongside a full-time job, needs a break. Mum responds well to good company and enjoys a joke, but struggles with all practical tasks, including personal care, and her mood drops quickly without stimulation. You will have experience of dementia, speak excellent English, be a good home cook, like dogs (Mungo the staffie/labrador cross is very much part of the family), be willing to fit into the household and organise social activities for Mum, including taking her to church where she has been a regular worshipper for sixty years. Driver preferred. Non-smoker. Self-employed with references, DBS and insurance. Start end October ideally.
