A unique opportunity for a quiet, reliable couple to live rent-free in a beautifully newly refurbished three-bedroom lodge with a private third-acre garden and stunning views, situated on the edge of a private woodland estate near Salisbury.
In exchange for accommodation, we are seeking a part-time housekeeper to assist approximately two days per week in the principal house with laundry, cleaning, ironing, and occasional errands. Additional duties include up to three Airbnb turnaround cleans per week, together with seasonal housekeeping support for our woodland wedding venue, including cleaning facilities and bell tent turnovers at weekends.
The wedding venue element of the role is seasonal (May–September), meaning there will be increased hours during the summer months. We only host about 20 weddings a year. Time off in lieu would therefore be offered during the quieter winter period, when the venue is closed and the Airbnb accommodation is less busy. Average working hours across the year are approximately 25 hours per week.
There is also potential for additional paid work on the estate involving woodland management and general building maintenance, should this be of interest. A practical partner with maintenance or land management skills would therefore be highly advantageous. The second partner may work full-time elsewhere or could undertake paid work within the estate.
The principals travel away several times a year, so applicants must be confident working independently and capable of overseeing the day-to-day running of the estate in their absence. This may also include care of horses while the owners are away (typically for two weeks, three times per year), although this would only be required if applicants have previous horse experience. Horse knowledge is therefore desirable, but not essential.
The property also includes a substantial workshop with potential for use as a small business space.
This is a peaceful rural setting within a small, friendly community ideal for a couple who value nature, tranquillity, and country living.
References and relevant experience essential.
