A part-time housekeeper required to support a warm and friendly elderly couple in their everyday household tasks, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, with some flexibility for additional hours if needed.

This position is located in the scenic Scottish Borders—just 2 miles from Earlston, 4 miles from Melrose, and 35 miles from Edinburgh.

We’re in search of an organised, trustworthy, and dependable individual who possesses a kind and caring nature, someone who truly appreciates the beauty of countryside living.

A full UK driver’s license is necessary, as some driving duties will be involved. A car will be provided for errands and appointments.

If required we also offer the possibility of a separate cottage with a garden provided as the accommodation. Couples are encouraged to apply, and if desired, there may be opportunities for gardening or support for the wider family.

Start date: End of May 2026

• Duties and Responsibilities

• General cleaning and housework to include washing and ironing
• Keeping the house tidy and clutter free, emptying bins
• Preparing simple, healthy and nutritious meals
• Changing bed linen
• Assisting the lady of the house with medication schedules (she has early stage dementia), managing her diary and assisting in day to day tasks where needed
• Helping with daily exercises following a provided plan and encouraging one or two walks per day
• Emptying bins
• Occasionally staying overnight when the husband is away
• Bringing in logs and laying fires during autumn and winter

• Salary & Accommodation

A good salary will be offered, together with accommodation if required in a separate bungalow with garden close to the main house.

A couple would be welcome to apply. A partner may either work elsewhere or there may be occasional garden/estate work available if desired.
