Job Specifications

We are seeking a full time experienced, professional, proactive and detail-oriented housekeeper within a private household to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running, cleaning  and general organisation of the home including management of an existing cleaner.

We value high standards and need someone who is trustworthy, discreet and can manage their time effectively.

 

Core Cleaning Duties:

• Floors – Daily vacuuming and mopping of all hard floors and carpets.
• Dusting – Wiping down surfaces, ornaments, picture frames and light fixtures.
• Bathrooms – Daily sanitizing of toilets, showers, baths, sinks and mirrors.
• Kitchen – Cleaning countertops, wiping appliances, loading/unloading the dishwasher, washing by hand anything wooden or that cannot go in the dishwasher and clearing bins.
• Polishing – Regular polishing of silver, brass or fine wood furniture/bannisters.
• Deep Cleaning – Periodic cleaning of skirting boards, interior windows and inside ovens and fridges.

 

Laundry and Wardrobe Management:

• Washing – Sorting delicate fabrics, hand-washing items and operating the washing machine.
• Drying – Air-drying fine garments or using the tumble dryer correctly.
• Ironing – Pressing clothing, bed linens, tablecloths etc to a high standard.
• Storage – Folding and putting away clothes and organizing wardrobes.
• Bedding – Changing sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers once per week.

 

Household Management and Upkeep:

• Stock Control – Checking inventory of toiletries and cleaning products to create shopping lists.
• Deliveries – Accepting parcels, shopping, putting the weekly shop away, signing for mail and greeting scheduled contractors or tradespeople.
• Organisation – Keeping cupboards, pantries and storage rooms tidy and systematically arranged.
• Waste – Sorting recycling, emptying indoor bins and moving wheelie bins to the curb on collection days.

 

Extras:

• Cooking - Cooking simple meals on occasion
• Pet Care - Walking, feeding, cleaning pet bedding, cleaning kennel area, emptying the dog bin daily.
• Guest Prep – Setting up guest bedrooms with fresh linen, towels and toiletries before visitors arrive.

 

Please Note:

• Driver – Driving duties may occasionally be required; therefore, a driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.

 

Working Hours -  (Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30 with a 30 minute unpaid break). Some weekend work may be required, but a day off during the week will be given in lieu.

 

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience as a housekeeper in a private household.
• Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Professional, reliable, and trustworthy with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
• Right to work in the UK
• Excellent checkable references.
